It’s been a full month since my boy left me… since everyone left me. Jack came home for about an hour. He packed some clothes and decided he’s living at this friend’s house until I fix things with Ethan. Oh to be an eight year old again and believe anything can be fixed…

Connor isn’t much better though. Apparently, he got a letter at the Beta house from Ethan. I don’t know what his letter said, but my Beta only talks to me about security and business... and most of that comes through Seb. I’ve lost my best friend, my brother, and my mate because of my stupid pride.

My warriors aren’t any help either. Max hasn’t been back since the night he called Bennet, and the men have noticed. They are following the lead of their head warrior and seem to be avoiding me. I only ever get quick updates and then they’re gone. Seb and Bastien and the others don’t hang around anymore.

It’s abundantly clear now that I am an asshole and that I was in the wrong that morning. I want to fix it, but I just don’t know where to start. I can’t reach out to my mate without starting a war. I can’t risk the pack for one person, can I? I want to. Oh gods know I want to. I need my little Blue like I need oxygen, but he would hate me even more if I went to him now. He left because he thought he was keeping us all safe. I can’t put us all in danger to get him back, right?

The ache in my chest doesn’t go away now. I can’t bring myself to toss out Ethan’s favorite foods, even if they’ve gone bad in his absence. I have to make a cup of his coffee every day, even though I hate the taste of it. I can’t stand the thought of seeing my pods decreasing in number while his stay the same. I don’t need the visual reminder every morning. I’m reminded enough waking up alone in our bed.

Sipping the disgusting coffee, I walk out to the gate to grab the mail. Posted on the wrought iron is a thick envelope that looks like some of the edges have burned a bit… that’s strange. Why didn’t they just put it in the mailbox? And what’s the deal with the decorative charring?

I take everything into my office and start to open the mail. This has become my routine. The house that was full of life and laughter is now dull and silent. The only thing I can do is work. Some of the she-wolves dropped by in the beginning, but they finally got the message that there is no other mate for me but my bluebird.

I didn’t think the pack still disrespected him so much, but I made quick work of that situation. They all know that their choice is to accept and respect my mate or to get the fuck out of my pack.
